Today we worked on seven prepositions in Spanish from page 43, activity 8 in Avancemos 2! In partners we wrote six questions aksing for the locations of specific places using the expression Perdon. Donde queda...? on the map of San Jose, Costa Rica. We also wrote the answers explaining the locations using the prepositions. If you did not complete today's class activity, then your homework is to complete them at home tonight.
We also took notes on preterite verbs that have spelling changes only in the yo form. Remember these verbs end in -car, -gar, and -zar.

For the past few days the students were working on a 100 point in class essay that were completed yesterday. Today the students received copies of their essays and had to draw 10-12 detailed pictures on the back of their essays that they will use for an in class presentation on their daily routine. The students may use their own pictures to help them speak about their daily routine. They may not read their presentation to the class.
Those who did not receive their essays in class were to pick them up from the classroom anytime after 4th period. If you did not receive your essay in class today AND did not return to class today to pick up your essay, then you are still responsible to give your presentation in class tomorrow.
For homework tonight, practice speaking about your daily routine using the pictures drawn. If you like you may memorize your essay to recite for the presentation.

In class some of us played Pesca, while those that needed to complete their essays on the Daily Routine worked diligently on them.

Today we continued working reflexive verbs and reflexive actions. We did a cloze activity on the song "Este es lo que hago." For homework this weekend, highlight all of the reflexive verbs and pronouns in the story "La rutina diaria de Jose" and above each verb write the YO form including the reflexive object pronoun. Today we reviewed El dictado from yesterday's classwork and last night's homework. Today we began notes on Direct Object Pronouns. Here's a very helpful video from YouTube that explains What Direct Objects and what Direct Object Pronouns are. Click on the link and learn about what they are.
In addition complete the notes that we began in class today. Copy the notes including all practice sentences from section A. We may have practiced with some of the sentences in class today, so you may need to only copy the ones that we did not complete in class. For each sentence of section A, underline and label subject, verb/action, and direct object of each sentence. We'll continue the work on these notes tomorrow. Also copy Section B, and the chart on Section C.

Today we reviewed all the e-ie, e-i, o-ue, and u-ue stem changing boot verbs. The list of the boot verbs is downloadable from the attachment, but remember that we are substituting the verb negar for divertir. We also prepared our BUQUE charts with 6 stem changing verbs and their conjugations for a quick game of BUQUE tomorrow.
For homework tonight, Write all of the e-i stem changing verbs 3 times each in Spanish and once in English.
Study for a quiz on all of the stem changing boot verbs this Thursday. On Friday we will sing our song "El burrito de Belen" to the other language classes and enjoy some traditional Rosca de Reyes. Today we reviewed yesterday's class assignment on the verb estar. Students need to study the 20 descriptions for the verb estar on the bottom of the sheet titled "Vocabulario ser estar." Remember to add two extra terms to the bottom of the list (estar bueno/a= to be very attractive/hot and estar perezoso/a= to be lazy). Remember to study the conjugations for the verb estar (Yo estoy, tu estas, el/ella/usted esta, nosotros estamos, ellos/ellas,ustedes estan)

Tonight's homework is to complete page 146 from your textbook, Avancemos 2. Based on the clues in the given sentences, Complete Activity 2 by writing one sentence for each item stating if the item fits well or bad on Alex. Write another sentence to describe how the item fits Alex (tight or loose). For these sentences you need to include the pronoun le in front of the verb queda when talking about another person (i.e. Alex).

For Activity 3, copy the sentence directly as it is written and use the conjugation chart at the top of the page to help you understand who the subject of each sentence is and write that subject after each sentence. For Activity 4, write a sentence for each picture detailing who the people are in each of the images. Remember to write your sentences in Spanish. You may consult with the conjugation verb chart for the verb ser at the top of page 5 and the vocabulary list that is located on page 29. Only complete homework will receive full credit. In class we reviewed the vocbulary (los dias, meses, familia, personas, ropa, y verbos) that we'll be be tested on at the end of the month. We also began work on writing the dialogs that will be presented from memory on Friday of this week. The dialog must be original work written with a partner in class. The dialog will include: a greeting; a request from one person to do an activity related to either school, sports, food, friends; a rejection to do that activity and a reason why; a solution to do that activity,and a farewell. The dialog must be entirely in Spanish, with a minimum of six lines per person and four words per line. We will finish writing the dialogs in classs tomorrow.
