Overview of AP Human Geography

AP® Program

AP stands for Advanced Placement; these are essentially college-level courses taught at the high school level.  The two-semester course is open to 9th grade students who would like to experience the rigor and pacing of a college level course.  Including the option to take a nationwide exam near the end of the year that could earn a 9th grade high school student college credit when they pass the APHG exam.

Course Description: The purpose of the AP Human Geography course is to introduce students to the systematic study of patterns and processes that have shaped human understanding, use, and alteration of Earth's surface. Students employ spatial concepts and landscape analysis to examine human social organization and its environmental consequences. They also learn about the methods and tools geographers use in their science and practice. http://apcentral.collegeboard.com
