2007-08 Student Member State Board of Education Application Due
When
10/13/2006

Every year our Governor selects ONE high school junior from a pool of about 150 applicants to sit as a voting member on the State Board of Education for the following year. This student functions as an equal member of the Board and has the opportunity to influence significant education policy.
The student who is appointed to this position will serve a one-year term from August 2007 through July 2008, attend the State Board of Education meetings held during this time, and vote on educational policies vital to California's students and schools (all expenses paid, plus a stipend of $100 for each day's service on official business.)
To be eligible, students must be a current junior, who will be a senior in good standing during the 2007-08 school year, and who are U.S. citizens.
Applications are available in the Counseling Office.
