The counseling office takes many steps to inform students about graduation requirements, the college process, and career information. Counselors feel that it is vital for parents to be informed about educational requirements and options. For your education we have scheduled a meeting for Grade 11 parents on Thursday, January 31, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. The topics at this Grade 11 presentation will include graduation requirements, testing, the college search, and timelines for the entire college process, including two-year and four-year colleges. Magna Sundstrom from Princeton Review will explain PSAT results. Many of your college questions will be answered at this informative meeting.

We cannot emphasize enough the importance of this meeting which will provide critical information to aid you in making informed decisions about your student’s future educational planning. The joint cooperation of the counselor, parent, and student has proven to be a positive experience for all participants. We see this as an excellent opportunity for sharing information and planning.

Transportation will be provided for parents of students who ride a district school bus. A bus will pick up parents at Memorial Academy at 5:00 p.m., San Diego High Complex at 5:15 p.m., and depart Point Loma High at 7:45 p.m.

Our counselors will meet with Grade 11 students in social studies classes to present this information on February 27 and 28, 2008, therefore only parents need to attend the evening meeting.

Please RSVP to the counseling office at 223-3121, extension 1129, or email Maddie Tolpen at [email protected].
