English Language Development (ELD) 
This class focuses on English Learners who are newly enrolled in school in the United States and who are at the Beginner and Intermediate levels of proficiency. 
 
Academic Language Development (ALD) 
This course is designed for long-term English Learners who are proficient in conversational English but need more time to develop academic language for use in their content classes. 
 
Literacy Academy (RFEP Support)
This course supports students who are reclassified English Learners and have passed the ELPAC test. Students are proficient in English but need additional coaching to be successful in their academic classes.  
 
Spanish for Spanish Speakers
This 3rd-year Spanish course satisfies the world language requirement for graduation. It is geared toward students whose home language is Spanish. It focuses on developing reading and writing skills along with academic language development in Spanish. 
 
Other Supports
Progress Monitoring
English Learners (ELs) and Reclassified English Learners (RFEPs) are monitored twice each year to ensure that academic growth is being made. Interventions are implemented for students who are not making adequate yearly progress. 
 
Tutoring
Before and after-school tutoring is available for all students in the library from 7:30-8:30 and 3:30-4:30 every day. Teachers are available to help students in Math, Science, English and History. 
 
Additional Opportunities
LOTE Alternative Assessment
Students who are already proficient in a language other than English may be eligible for the LOTE exam. Students must demonstrate proficiency in reading, writing, listening and speaking to pass the exam and earn language credit. Please see your counselor for more details.
